Brain is a pandora box. After years of research we are yet to know many new things about our brain. All success and failure of our lives depends upon our thoughts. If we can control our thoughts we can perform impossible tasks. A combination of healthy brain and positive mind is most successful one.

Mental health is one of the most important thing which we always neglect. Most of people don’t accept, that they have mental health issues. Mental health is a big set. It consists of huge numbers of diseases. Not every patient is insane.

Both physical and mental wellness makes a man happy

1: MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES ARE VERY COMMON

Mental health issues and related neurological conditions are very common. It consists around 10% of all patients. Around 1 in 5 of the world’s children and adolescents have a mental disorder. The disease incidence is on rise gradually. The stressful competitive lifestyle is causing huge burden on everyone’s mind. Many people leaving villages to work in cities in between stressful expectations. As the family size becomes small, less people are available whom someone can talk. That is bringing huge stress on human mind.About half of mental disorders begin before the age of 14.

2: DEPRESSION IS THE MAJOR CULPRIT

Depression is one of the commonest culprit. Its the leading cause of disability, affecting 264 million people. Mismatch in reality and expectations increases the stress on brain. Young generation is facing much difficulty in countering the mental imbalance. Depression is a very real and treatable illness. But myths, misunderstandings, and stigma continue to be barriers to treatment for many, and the consequences of untreated depression can be life-threatening. 

3: SUICIDE HAS BECOME RAMPANT AMONG YOUNG PEOPLE

Almost 800 000 people die by suicide every year; 1 person dies from suicide every 40 seconds. Suicide is the second leading cause of death in individuals aged 15-29 years. For every suicide there are many more people who attempt suicide every year. A prior suicide attempt is the single most important risk factor for suicide in the general population. While the link between suicide and mental disorders is well established in high-income countries, many suicides happen impulsively in moments of crisis with a breakdown in the ability to deal with life stresses, such as financial problems, relationship break-up or chronic pain and illness. In addition, experiencing conflict, disaster, violence, abuse, or loss and a sense of isolation are strongly associated with suicidal behaviour. 

4: SUBSTANCE ABUSE IS VERY COMMON AMONG THEM

More than 1 in 4 adults living with serious mental illnesses also struggles with substance abuse. Many individuals who develop substance use disorders (SUD) are also diagnosed with mental disorders, and vice versa. Although drug use and addiction can happen at any time during a person’s life, drug use typically starts in adolescence, a period when the first signs of mental illness commonly appear.

5: LIFE EXPECTANCY IS LESS IN PEOPLE WITH MENTAL ILLNESS

People with severe mental disorders die 10 to 20 years earlier than the general population. Along with they suffer from many severe complications. Many of them get addicted to narcotics, which exerts negative effects on their physical health.

6: PHYSICAL ILLNESS IN MENTAL ILLNESS

The lifespan of people with severe mental illness (SMI) is shorter compared to the general population. This excess mortality is mainly due to physical illness. Several issues like stroke, coronary arterial diseases, headaches, sleep problems etc are seen due to excessive stress and anxiety.  (What happens if we don’t give importance to mental health)

7: BOOST YOUR MENTAL HEALTH. ITS NEVER DIFFICULT

For generalized wellbeing we need stable mental health. Regular exercise, yoga, meditation, sports, friend groups. If you have some problems, speak up to someone. Keep one hobby. Keep away from negative people. If you or anyone close to you feel issues which need care, talk to a psychiatrist. They will help you. Never think mental issues as a curse or anything very bad. Hiding will not help you.
