7 WAYS TO HAVE BETTER EYE SIGHT (WORLD SIGHT DAY SPECIAL)

       

       The eye  is one of the most important sensory organs of our body. Good sight is a big necessity for individuals. The sight is a complex phenomenon. Here the eye acts as a camera and the brain perceives the images and interprets the images. In the world sight day we will know some common interpretations for better vision.

20-20-20 rule

Here are 7 best practices for maintaining good vision:

  1. Regular Eye Exams: Schedule annual eye exams to monitor vision changes and detect potential issues. If you are a diabetic it’s a must. In intervals of every three month do check your fundus to prevent diabetic retinopathy. It’s a common cause of blindness in diabetic people.
  2. Balanced Diet: Eat nutrient-rich foods:
    • Leafy greens (lutein, zeaxanthin)
    • Citrus fruits (Vitamin C)
    • Nuts (Omega-3 fatty acids)
    • Carrots (Vitamin A)
  3. Hydration: Drink plenty of water (8-10 glasses/day) to keep eyes hydrated. Along with it will protect the brain also from dehydration.
  4. Eye Exercises: Perform daily eye exercises:
    • Rolling
    • Focusing
    • Blinking
  5. Proper Posture: Maintain good posture to reduce eye strain. A good posture and safe distance from screens keeps eye strain free.
  6. Screen Time Management:
    • Follow the 20-20-20 rule – Look at the screen for 20 minutes with repeated blinking then look away for 20 seconds to a distance of 20 feet.

    • Wear sunglasses with UV protection
    • Use blue light filtering glasses or apps
    • Avoid rubbing eyes always
