GOOD LIPIDS WHICH HELPS OUR BRAIN & WHERE TO GET IT (LIPID DAY SPECIAL) : SUNDAY MIRROR

Lipids are a part of our food which is a major micronutrient. It’s one of the most necessary foods for our brain development. But like every food it is divided into two types according to health issues. They are according to their density. Low density lipid (LDL) and high density lipid (HDL). LDL is termed as bad cholesterol and HDL good.

Let’s talk about brain-boosting lipids.

Good lipids for the brain

Omega-3 fatty acids, particularly DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) and EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid), are essential for brain function and development.

  • These lipids support cognitive function, memory, and focus.
  • In early age they help in the structural development of the brain.
  • The brain is the fattiest organ of the body. It consists of 60% fat.
  • Dietary sources:
  • Fatty fish: Salmon, sardines, mackerel, and anchovies are rich in DHA and EPA.
  • Nuts and seeds: Walnuts, flaxseeds, and chia seeds are good sources of ALA (alpha-linolenic acid), which can be converted to DHA and EPA in the body.
  • Fortified foods: Some eggs, yogurt, and milk products are fortified with omega-3 fatty acids.

Include  these lipids in your diet according to your food choice which can support brain health and function.

Include these foods and keep brain sharp. Please read and share.
