Procastination

Procrastination is the habit of delaying or putting off tasks or decisions. Our brain is often happy delaying things. It leads to feelings of guilt, stress, and lost productivity. It’s a common behavior. It’s like a personality.

Procrastination can take many forms, such as:

  1. Delaying the start of a task: Our brain is addicted to comfort. I never like doing a big task. Naturally, it will delay the task
  2. Focusing on non-essential tasks instead of important ones: Important tasks are difficult. A lazy brain goes behind small tasks rather than focusing on important things. Perfectionist people suffer more. Because they want everything perfect, which isn’t always possible. That causes procrastination.
  3. Switching between tasks frequently (multitasking): Multitasking people suffer more due to multiple works. Neither gets completed.
  4. Avoiding tasks for fear of failure or success: Many people are far from reality. They avoid important tasks to get rid of the possibility of failure.
  5. Getting distracted by social media, email, or other digital temptations: Recently we see everyone suffering from excess screen time. It limits the focusing capacity. That leads to procrastination.

If you’re struggling with procrastination, there are strategies to help overcome it, such as: Here are 7 ways to overcome procrastination:

  1. Break tasks into smaller steps: Procrastination often occurs when a task seems too big. Break down large tasks into smaller, manageable steps. This will make the task less daunting and more achievable. Perfection is a subjective phenomenon. If it’s achieved then good. If it’s not then also it’s perfect for someone.
  2. Set clear goals and deadlines: Setting specific goals and deadlines can help you stay focused and motivated. Write down your goals and deadlines, and track your progress. Don’t be harsh on yourself. Keep manageable goals.
  3. Create a schedule and stick to it: Plan out your day, week, or month, and stick to your schedule. Set aside dedicated time for tasks, and avoid multitasking. Discipline is the way to achieve anything.
  4. Use the Pomodoro Technique: This involves working in focused 25-minute increments, followed by a 5-minute break. After four cycles, take a longer break (15-30 minutes).
  5. Remove distractions: Identify common distractions (social media, email, phone notifications), and remove them while you work. Use tools like website blockers or phone apps to help. Limit your screen time for better productivity.
  6. Create a conducive work environment: Ensure your workspace is comfortable, organized, and clutter-free. This will help you stay focused and avoid procrastination.
  7. Reward yourself: Set small rewards for yourself when you complete tasks or reach milestones. This will help motivate you to stay on track and reinforce positive habits.

Remember, overcoming procrastination takes time and practice. Be patient, and don’t give up!
