     The technological superiority is drawing us towards less physical activity. Most of the people are sitting for prolonged time. It causes a decrease in muscle movement. A prolonged lethargic lifestyle causes sore and stiff muscles and causes excessive pain while moving.

How to overcome muscle stiffness?

Here are 7 ways to help overcome stiff muscles:

Stretching

Static stretches: Hold stretches for 15-30 seconds to lengthen muscles. Do stretching exercises everyday. It will prevent painful spasms of limbs and back.

Dynamic stretches: Move joints through ranges of motion to warm up muscles. Several exercises are there for it.

Foam Rolling

Self-myofascial release: Use foam rollers to release tension in muscles. Focus on areas like IT bands, quadriceps, and hamstrings.

Warm Baths or Showers

Relax muscles: Soak in warm water or take a warm shower to relax muscles. Add some epsom salts to enhance relaxation. High magnesium containing oils also help in better relaxation.

Massage Therapy

Professional massage: Receive a massage from a licensed therapist. You can use tools or your own body weight to massage muscles.

Exercise and Movement

Regular exercise: Engage in regular physical activity to maintain flexibility.

Yoga or Pilates: Practice low-impact exercises that promote flexibility and strength.

Heat or Cold Therapy

Heat therapy: Apply heat packs or use a heating pad to relax muscles. It will decrease pain.

Rest days: Allow time for muscles to recover between intense exercise sessions.

Stress free lifestyle: Stress increases muscle stiffness and pain. Relax your mind and body for a better lifestyle.

Remember to consult with a neurologist if muscle stiffness persists or worsens. There are several medications for myofascial pains.
